Sean and Loren Mikael
Prior to working with Pre Paid Legal, Sean was working a full-time job in bathroom and kitchen design while attending college at Cal State Northridge, where he studied business finance. Loren had recently earned a Communications degree from UCLA, and was now working two jobs as a swim instructor and waitress, while pursuing her passion in performing arts. Sean was behind on bills, $23,000 in debt, and ready for a change. On May 13, 2002 he joined Pre Paid Legal.
After working full time for nine years, Sean realized that his income stopped growing and that he was either going to continue building someone else’s dream or needed to start building his own. “With Pre Paid Legal, I could work full time on my job and part time on my fortune.” In his first month, Sean earned $1,000 working very part-time. “That built up my belief and motivated me to really go to work. I worked 15 hours a week on my business my first year, while still working and attending college full-time. By the end of that year I was earning twice the income with my part time business than I was earning at my full time job, so I quit that job, graduated college and pursued my business full-time.”
‘…everyday is like a Sunday. Neither of us have to run off to a job; we get to build our business, our future, together.’Loren Mikael, Swim instructor, performing arts
For the first two and half years of his business, Loren was an “unsupportive spouse” she says. “I didn’t understand the business but loved the membership, it wasn’t until I attended a major convention that it made sense how amazing and unique this opportunity was and that it can really help people.” She decided to start working with Pre Paid Legal on a part-time basis, and within six months she was earning more than her two jobs. “At first, the goal was to have a career that offered flexibility to pursue my passions, travel, and spend more time with my loved ones. Sean and I used to look forward to Sundays since that was the only day we could really spend time with each other. But now, everyday is like a Sunday. Neither of us have to run off to a job; we get to build our business, our future, together.’
Today Sean and Loren not only enjoy building their business together, but also traveling the world together. “When we were just broke college kids, Sean and I would look through the world atlas in the UCLA library and point to places we would one day travel to together. We have really been living out the dream. We have been able to travel throughout the country, almost every month, and take vacations to places like Brazil, Dominican Republic, Prague, Cancun, Cabo, France, England, Italy, Hawaii, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. What is even better is that while on these trips, the income we make from our business has always been greater than the cost of the trip itself!”
In addition to traveling the world, they are appreciative that this business has allowed them to pay off debt, drive their dream cars; purchase and custom design their home near the ocean, and have their dream wedding in Malibu. They have also been able to help Sean’s father purchase a home and assist his mother in moving to Los Angeles from Israel. And since getting started, have earned over a million dollars with the opportunity. “Pre-Paid Legal now pays us every couple of months what we used to make in an entire year, it’s like a dream come true,” Sean says.
We are so thankful to be a part of an incredible team. It takes a team to win. We will continue to lead by example and help others achieve their goals and dreams.

Sean identifies that, “None of this would have happened if I did not attend my first convention. This is where I caught the vision of where this company was going with or without me. I looked myself in the mirror and knew if I wanted things to change I had to be the change. I started reading books and associated with positive people who had my solutions rather than negative people who had my problems. After I learned the system and understood the process, I began my journey to master the basics and there was no looking back.”
“Have a burning desire, willingness to work, and be coach-able;” these are three things that attribute to success. My mentors told me, Loren recalls, “those traits matched with persistent and consistent efforts can bring one’s goals to life. Commitment is the most attractive thing in a leader.”
